Alan Garfield's Bio:
Alan Garfield is Head of Computer Graphics and Interactive Media at the University of Dubuque. He has over 30 years of teaching in higher education, both in the United States and in Europe. He started the first undergraduate computer graphics program in the United States in the 1980s. His area of expertise involves digital photography, the electronic patient record, 2D and 3D animation and web development. Trained as an art historian, he brings on average 150 students to France, Germany, Ireland, England, Italy and Greece per year. His recent publications include papers on Beat Poetry in Ireland, Holocaust study, 19th century French art theory and graphic design curriculum reform. While he works full time in Iowa, he lives part time with his wife, Phyllis, in County Donegal, Ireland.
